An important parameter of cortical bone strength is its microstructure. We study the microstructure of cortical bone with 3D high resolution imaging (synchrotron radiation), its evolution with aging and its link with the osteoporotic fracture of the proximal femur.
The level of mineralization of bone tissue is also a qualitative parameter that intervenes in its mechanical strength. We study its variation in function of gender, age and its relationship to osteoporotic fracture of the proximal femur.
